We knew this was going to be an adventure when we got to Dulles and scanned our passports. No, not Fernando Calhoun and Catherine Bauer...
Once we finally got checked in under the right names and boarded our plane, we sat on the tarmac for about an hour. This delayed our arrival in Madrid and we missed our connection flight to Valencia. Thankfully, we found a nice English-speaking attendant who took us to the red carpet Business Plus counter and booked us tickets for a new connection at 3pm (rather than the 10am which we had been scheduled to fly). So we sat in the airport for several hours taking turns sleeping and watching the bags.
But here we are! What a beautiful campus! You can see the mountain, orange groves, the town below, and the ocean all from our balcony window. It's breezy and not too hot with no humidity. We've already met some of the other summer students and it seems like it is going to be a really great group of people.
We'll try to post some pictures at some point... we're borrowing the internet cable from our roommate to be able to post at all. Thanks for your prayers for traveling safety. They were certainly answered!
Wow! Sounds beautiful! I wish i was there! :) Well, we certianly miss you here! :) ...But are glad that you are there safe... :)Love you! ~Allison
